At work, all the people in my department use Yahoo Messenger. You can create an "avatar", a little person you can dress, change its hair, tan, background, even give it pets. I raided the Halloween section and gave my avatar a pet bat and pet scorpion. And named them.
Because I'm hardcore.
Here's a brilliant argument I had today. You know, between sessions of working hard:
k: who do you think would win: Pissy the Bat vs. Princess Wallace the Scorpion
J: hmmm
J: well
J: Pissy can fly
J: so he can get away whenever
J: but
k: unless princess stings his WING
J: the Princess has those claws
J: so if she's quick enough she can clip off the wings
k: i'd say it's a pretty even match, wouldn't you?
J: but all Pissy has to do is go grab a coconut off that tree over there
J: and drop it on the Princess
J: so I'm going with Pissy, as long as he's as resourceful as I think he is
k: you're forgetting Princess's hard shell. Her exoskeleton!
J: yeah but a coconut dropped at a high altitude will crush her
k: except that her exoskeleton is made out of steel.
